Lots of people in Springfield completed the Travel survey we conducted in June/July. We would now like to share all the information. What did you in fact say about walking, cycling and taking the bus in Springfield and Linlithgow?
Come along to Springfield Community Centre Monday 13th September at 8pm
and we will give you all the details and some updates on whats happening. We will even give you a cup of coffee and a biscuit!
We now have 2 Bike trailers available for hire!!! There is a big one that is good for transporting bulkier items or loads of shopping and a smaller one primarily for shopping. Maybe you have never tried cycling with a trailer and want to find out what it is like. Maybe you are considering buying a trailer and what to test different options. Whatever your reason you can hire a trailer from LinlithGO. The trailers hook on to a hitch that will fit under your seat.
The cost is £2 for 2 days or £5 for a week. Any money made will go to local cycle projects.
A refundable deposit of £30 needs to be paid when signing out the trailer.
To book a trailer go to the contact us page and send us an email letting us know which trailer you are interested in, the times you would like to hire the trailer and a contact phone number – we will then get back to you to arrange pick up details.
Following great success in July Kingsfield Golf Centre has extended the offer of half price putting for everybody who cycles there in August. Not a bad offer, why not give it go.
They now also hire out mountain bikes, see the link to the right for more information.
A big THANK YOU to all who came to the Springfield Bike Fun Day. It was a busy afternoon and it was good to see so many people enjoying the activities, getting bike passports, having their bikes checked and getting lots of different travel information. Even the weather stayed dry, what more can you ask for.
Also a big thank you to all residents in the Springfield area who have returned their travel surveys. We are very happy that so many people have taken the time to engage with us and we will share the results with everybody as soon as we have summarised the results into something readable. If you haven’t filled in your survey yet there is still time, so please tick those boxes.
By now all households in Springfield will have had a copy of the active travel map through their letterbox. We hope you are getting chances to use it, the weather has certainly been good for walking and cycling. Anybody who hasn’t seen the map yet can pick up a copy absolutely free from the Library, County buildings or very soon from the new Linlithgow Climate Challenge advice shop next to the Police Station.
Another good reason to get on your bike is that Kingsfield Golf Centre is offering half price putting to anybody who travels there by pedal power in July. That’s worth a trip, isn’t it.
Welcome to the new website for linlithGO.info
How do you travel to the shops, to school, to work, to leisure activities?
LinlithGO is our sustainable travel project in co-operation with Linlithgow Cycling Action Group and we are looking to make it easier for everybody to travel more and improve services for pedestrians, cyclists and bus users. Initially working in the Springfield area, all households will receive a detailed LinlithGO map detailing all paths in their area and into Linlithgow centre along with other useful information. There will also be opportunities to tell us about the problems that prevent residents walking or cycling – we might be able to help. Later in the year we will be doing the same in the Linlithgow Bridge area. Information will also be available on this site.
The big LinlithGO launch for Springfield will be the Bike Fun Day on Sunday 27th June 12-4 at Springfield Primary. There will be lots of activities including bike pursuit race, bike doctor, obstacle course, Springfield treasure hunt as well as refreshments and lots of local travel information. It is free to take part, so please come along.
